Social Life

Church is a great way to meet new people and make new friends, so we have plenty of activities that offer social activities where we can just enjoy each other. You don’t have to a member of the church at all to join in these things – many people who come along  aren’t.

Tuffley Ladies Fellowship

tlfThe Tuffley Ladies Fellowship is open to all ladies whether they attend St. Barnabas Church or not. We usually meet together on the 2nd Thursday afternoon of each month at 2.15pm.
Some of our meetings are held in the small church hall and at other times we meet socially at various homes, enjoy tea together at one of our local garden centres, go on a half day coach outing around various areas of Gloucestershire or have lunch together at a local venue.
Some of the ladies enjoy knitting/crochet (we can provide the necessary wool if required) and they bring along their articles to our meetings. Articles for children aged 4 years and under are forwarded on to The Family Haven, Spa Road, Gloucester and all other items (including knitted/crocheted blankets) are sent to Poland via St. James Church Quedgeley.

We pay an annual subscription each year of £5 per person to cover our costs and also enable us to make some charitable donations.
If you would like further information please contact our leader: Sheila Jewell on 01452 538249 or email

Wednesday Lunch Club

This is an open lunch club, for anyone who would like to enjoy a good, hot meal once a week in the company of old and new friends. It’s a two course meal, with plenty to eat – it’s usually a meat or chicken based first course with lots of veg, and the sort of pudding you wouldn’t dare make for yourself at home! There’s a cup of tea of coffee afterwards, and people stay as long as they like to chat. So in a lovely warm hall, with flowers on the table and a friendly welcome it’s a great way to spend Wednesday lunch time.
Every Wednesday at 12.30pm in St Barnabas Hall.
Phone 01452 501145 (by Monday each week) to book your place. Please check back again for upcoming events!

Sunday Tea

lunchclubThe Sunday Tea Group began in March 2008.  It is specifically for those who have been recently bereaved, losing their husband or wife, but welcome others who need special support.  The group started with five members and it has slowly grown and now has over fifteen members .The group meets  in St Barnabas Church fortnightly for tea, biscuits or cake and a chat.  We speak about any worries we have regarding solicitors, wills, pensions, hospital appointments, repairs to our homes etc. Through the group many people have found new friendships and support at a very difficult and otherwise lonely time. The members also often go on outings and out for meals at other times, and keep in touch with each other by phone.Sunday Tea usually meets on the 4th Sunday of the month at 2.30 pm in the winter, and 4.30 pm in the Summer.
