Beaver Scouts are young people aged between 6 and 8 years old. They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. The Beavers enjoy fun and friends and the programme reflects this with games, creative work, stories & sleepovers.
Cub Scouts are for children aged between 8 and 11 years old. There are loads of fun things that you can do as a Cub Scout. As a Cub you will get a chance to try lots of different activities, creative work, making things, map work, games, camps and much more.
The Scout Section is for young people, aged between 11 and 14 years. Scouts take part in a balanced programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit and helps develop their creative talents.
Being outdoors is important and half the Programme is given over to taking part in both the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping and cooking as well as a wide range of adventurous activities.
Explorer Scouts are young people aged between 14 and 18 years old. As an Explorer Scout, you will get the chance to work with other Explorer Scouts in your District, not just your Unit. By doing this, you will get the chance to do many more activities, not just the ones your Unit organises.
All sections meet on a Thursday night at St Barnabas Church Hall, Beavers 5.30-6.30, Cubs 6.15-7.30, Scouts and Explorers 7.45-9.15. The Scouting groups are closely linked with the life of the St Barnabas, and the groups attend church several times throughout the year for special Parade services.
